Sexy Jeopardy Dudes #1

I almost forgot! New feature that I will forget about after a week. Straight from my entirely lame personal life, I bring you Sexy Jeopardy Dudes!

This week we admire Jesse, who was on the show back in October. (I am VERY behind in my Jeopardy watching. Last week, my DVR was 100% filled with old episodes and stopped recording anything else.) Anyway here is Jesse:

Sexy Jeopardy Jesse

To my infinite pleasure, he won like 4 or 5 games, so I got to watch him for a very long time. If you think he's sexy to look at here, you should've heard him talk. He was all smooth and confident and profundo, and that look on his face pretty much encompasses his entire personality. Watching him play Jeopardy and do incredible feats of mental math in seconds is remarkably similar to having sex, so.... guess you missed it.

I can't comment on how often this feature will run because -- I don't know if you know this -- Jeopardy is a 100% unreliable source of attractive people.

MoMI! I'm hungry MoMI!

Now is the time I tell you about what I did this weekend.

Imitation Whales

Those are real. I saw them at the Entenmann's outlet in Astoria. Sorry about the shitty iPhone quality but prepare yourself for more because I just discovered how fun it can be to use the camera on there even though it's slowly lowering people's standards of beauty one hastily-delivered photo at a time. Yeah, I said it, the iPhone takes shitty pictures so if you hear someone being struck by lightning in the next 20 seconds it's probably me.

Anyway the main events this weekend involved the reopening of the Museum of the Moving Image. Babcock got us a dual membership, and we went to the disorganized and poorly-executed opening party Saturday night. It was supposed to start at 8, so we got there at 7:50 and there was a line around the corner because nobody was allowed in.

They opened the doors 20 minutes late, and a giant bouncer (museum bouncer) was letting people in 6 at a time.... to wait in another line.... and then you had to wait in yet another line for food and drink tickets. So it took us 45 minutes just to get inside (P.S. it's winter) and instead of screwing the people with 8:30 events (which would've worked nicely), they pushed everything back, but each room was pushed back a different amount of time so no matter where you went, you were probably waiting 40 minutes for your thing to start.

Luckily, not a lot of things were worth seeing, so there was plenty of time to meander. You would think a film museum with a gigantic archive would have plenty to offer in terms of screening entertainment, but too much of it was installation crap like "aura dancing" where you could dance in front of a projector and someone with a laptop would drag colors over you. You could even see the little cursor. Art school crap like that.

Also the wine was terrible, guys, like spew.

Chiho Aoshima: City Glow

Happily, the museum itself is pretty sweet. That's a picture of an animated mural in the entryway called City Glow. Very sexy. It was fun to watch that 30 times while waiting in line for tickets we ordered ahead of time. The exhibits are pretty too, though they haven't finished labeling everything.

Deanna Durbin...

The best room to be in was the .... room kinda off to the left. They had a rotation of DJs and chiptune artists, and most of it was worth hearing. It's also where the hot caterer was. Babcock and I spent most of our time in there talking about our relationship and watching this guy paint video on the wall.

If you are wondering who is talking at the end and ruining everything, it is Babcock. Also that scarf on the dude's head is ATTACHED TO THE SWEATER, sorry to blow your minds so early in the week guys.

What is even happening right now?

Forget what I said about blogging more. Believing me is for chumps anyway!

Anyway, I just logged onto Yelp.com for no reason only to find that I haven't written a review since 2008, and it bothered me. I'm not talking about my absence from the site because that was a decisive choice I made due to it becoming popular and therefore plagued with boring, pointless writing and far-less-interesting events. (Sorry, current Yelpers. I'm sure it wasn't you personally.)

What bugged me is that I feel like quitting Yelp wasn't that long ago, but 2008 was over 2 years ago. That's a long time: a giant 2-year span of time where I have no record of any restaurants I've discovered or venues I've seen, and since I have a terrible long-term hard drive in my brain (Cory, I forgot when your birthday is again, btw) that's basically two years of which I have no memory at all! I really have to document my life better so when I'm old and full of regrets, I can look at something and say "Bonus, I did stuff after all!"

Let's start now! Yesterday Rybrarian came over and we watched Jeopardy and played Mortal Kombat. Then he came with me to buy earplugs because I forgot to. So that's cool. Oh, we went to DUANE READE for that. I give them 4 stars. __ Useful __ Funny __ Cool

Ooh, also, there is a new Starbucks character. His name is Gay Latte Boy, and I like him a lot because he gave me free cookies one time. Today he told me about how he saw Spiderman and it was stupid. Well... he didn't tell ME, he told his coworkers, and I stood off to the side pretending to arrange my iPod and eavesdropping. I'm considering having a crush on him, but I want to discuss it with my boyfriend first.

Jesus Christ, speaking of that place, some kid stole the Foursquare mayorship from me, and I have been chasing him for over a month! Every time I check in, I am 1 day away from becoming mayor, and I check in every day! He's smoking in his picture, so obviously he must be destroyed. I'm sure he lives on my street, too, because all of his stupid mayorships are within a block. Get a life, dude, you seriously need to get out more! (Readers, I know what you're thinking, and I want you NOT to say it.)

So that's what's going on with me. That and my karaoke league team, Snooki: Reloaded, are regular season champions. Waiting on results from finals Wednesday. And uh.... yeah I'll probably link to a couple videos that are starting to surface so you can see how talented we all are and be so jealous.

Two-Thousand and Eleventeen

Ok the thing about December is that it sucked. With the exception of Christmas and New Year's Eve, I was in a bad mood approx. 97% of the time. It is with this in mind that I make the sappy admission that the nascent new year actually feels like a clean slate for once.

I've always found it strange that people base their ideological renewal on the period of rotation of a giant rock in infinite blackness, but this time around I'm jumping on that dizzying bandwagon and saying "Huzzah for 2011!" Therefore, let us look back on 2010 and examine my accomplishments (snort). Then I will tell you my two REAL resolutions as opposed to the bullshit ones I do every year.

My accomplishments in 2010 are varied and numerous. They include such monumental feats as "continuing to convert oxygen into carbon dioxide using a complex scientific process most of you don't fully understand" as well as "playing Final Fantasy XIII for 20 hours without killing myself." I'm also quite proud of "having a better attitude than most of my coworkers about my office moving to a shitty neighborhood" and "gaining 5-6 pounds, thereby slightly throwing the earth off its orbit and contributing to climate change and the eventual 2012 disaster that sources say only John Cusack will survive."

But my most astonishing feat of 2011 was definitely "maintaining a romantic relationship for three months (and counting!) without losing interest at a decisive moment a month and a half in and waiting for the relationship to disintegrate on its own." That'll be with Wine Store Guy a.k.a. C.C. Babcock a.k.a. Fafner a.k.a. whatever other nickname I might have used. (They are all the same person. This has been confusing to some people.) Anyway, he didn't know about the threat of sudden disinterestegration so don't tell him. It's past the point of no return for that to happen anyway, so all is well.

*************************

Ok now it's time for everyone to care about my resolutions! I have two this year.

  1. Make something every day -- This sounds ambitious, but it's not. Basically, I resolve to do something creative every day. So far, so good. On the 1st, I made a Happy New Year flip book that features Stick Man drinking, passing out from drinking and creating floating Z's, and then the Zs disappear and he dies from alcohol poisoning. I wish I had a scanner so I could make an animated gif for all to see. Then yesterday I came up with the concept for my performance of LoveGame in karaoke league this weekend. Today I am making the costume... or at least buying all the elements of the costume. You may call it lame that so far I have nothing to show for the 2nd and 3rd days of my resolution, but I declare that I spent a lot of time thinking, and that is creative enough and also your resolution to lose weight is boring and shitty.
  2. Make New York big again -- I resolve to not sit at home so much is basically what this one says. There was a time when I was constantly out and about, but last year I stayed in my (admittedly comfortable and amenity-rich) apartment. But that's not what I live in New York for. So this year I've subscribed again to Time Out New York and Cory has subscribed to NY Mag, so the goal is more music and art and restaurants. Especially I would like to do free things as long as my BOYFRIEND shows up on time and not at the last possible second so there are no seats left for the Monteverdi Vespers performance.

So that's that. I hope fulfilling those two convictions will lead to a third unspoken resolution: I promise to blog more. This is a resolution that I make every month and it never happens, but if all goes well, I will tell you about all the cool free events I go to and all the shitty little art projects I do at home.

Happy 2011 everybody! Your resolution is "read my blog every day"!

It Is December 8th

Wanna hear a riddle? Ok here we go.

Q: Does anybody care how my Thanksgiving was anymore?

A: No.

Alright I will tell you. It was fine. Only people I like were there, so it was calm and quiet and nobody pissed anyone off. The End.

Then I had my high school reunion. Y'know how when you use a word too much it stops sounding real? Well that pretty much sums up that evening for me: "I'm a librarian... wait that's not a word... yes it is... is it?... what does it mean?... do I have a job?... I'm still talking out loud... I should stop... but I'm so confused." So hi everyone from the reunion! I think I'm a librarian. I'd like to thank the ONE of you that facebook-friended me afterwards. The rest of you are disappointments with terrible priorities.

That's all I have to say about that. The End.

Fin

This is the worst blog entry ever, and it's because everything is sucking right now. There is a problem in my apartment that has been a problem for over a month and the bottom line is I can never sleep through the night and if I spend another night there, I'm going to have a nervous breakdown because I pretty much did last year when the SAME DAMN THING HAPPENED. So thankfully my building manager is FINALLY getting someone on it. Unfortunately, the person she's got on it is terrible at his job, and nothing is getting fixed. I've spent the past few nights with C.C. Babcock (the bf, remember him?) and will probably impose on him a lot more because it turns out he makes me coffee in the mornings and the commute to work from his place takes half the time and if I act really miserable I get a backrub. So, um.... I guess things aren't that bad anymore but I hope he doesn't mind if I come home drunk tonight because it is karaoke night and I have to dance enthusiastically to The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You, which in my current state is not possible without chemical assistance.

Anyway that's why I am a shit writer, and it has nothing to do with lack of talent because you all know I can blog you under the water. Now go away.

This One Is About a Shitty Cake

UPDATE: Ok, I am told that the video on which this post is based is totally old news, but it's new to me and ummm... a seminal holiday classic?

Via Cake Wrecks:

Wow, Sandra. Ok, I've never liked this phony dink with her stupid hair. That said, the "semi-homemade" concept is pretty cool -- at least it would be if she hadn't stopped trying altogether.

Are people in this country so bereft of imagination and basic skills that they need to be shown how to put store-bought icing on a store-bought cake? "Wonders behold! I have made lines on the side! Watch as I put on this distorted Star of David I fashioned from crap I found in the dumpster behind Michaels!"

Good call on the marshmallows, though. I can't wait until you cut into the thing and they fall all over places such as your lap and the floor. That's a great addition to any Hannukkah cake. Here's a fun fact about marshmallows: If marshmallows are famous for anything, they are famous for NOT BEING KOSHER!

So cool, she took angel food cake (which is awesome) and a can of frosting (which is awesome) and made something amateurish and crappy that the intended audience cannot serve at the intended function. Oh boy, I can't wait to see her all over New York 1!

Happy Hannukkah, Jews!

Camisole Wars

I know none of you care about video games, but I need you all to click on this link to the site for an upcoming game and tell me how this man is not wearing a woman's top.

Seriously. Other features of the drawing: Balls Outline.

Don't click on "Enter Site"; it starts singing because it is still 1998 and websites that sing without warning are still cool just like custom cursors, midi files, animated gifs, and frames.

Next time I will tell you about Thanksgiving. Right now I don't feel too good.

Tragedy!

Ok remember the other day when I went on and on about the fish tank and what the fish tank means to me and how much I love the fish tank? Well I arrived at my family's home outside Chicago last night, and I was thinking about my blog, so the first thing I did was go into the fish tank room to look at the fish tank, and it was FUCKING GONE!

Aghast About Fish Tank Face

I know, I feel the same way! And that's not the worst of it. Look what I found in its place:

Horrible atrocity fish tank replacement kill me now

A giant wooden fish! Did they think I wouldn't notice!?! I didn't throw a fit because my parents would think I was severely unhinged, but I did ask WTF happened to it. Apparently they gave it to my aunt... the one who hosts Thanksgiving every year. So I hope you all enjoy your fucking dinners because I will be rocking in a ball in the corner staring through glass at the stolen remnants of my childhood.

n.b. I drew that picture on a touchpad in Paintbrush, which went and got all sophisticated when I wasn't looking! Pretty cool!

Personal Growth

Last night I had this stupid dream where they passed a law that stated that all graphical representations of family trees had to be divided by political leaning. Then I had a vision of what mine would look like, which I dutifully reproduced at 6:00 this morning when my clanking heating pipe woke me up for the 20th day in a row:

My Family Tree

Pitiful, isn't it? It's probably not even accurate -- in fact I know it's not accurate -- but that's what my brain said. Anyway, I haven't been home for Thanksgiving in years. I wonder what term my uncle currently uses to refer to all non-white people. Last time it was "gypsies." (Click here for an account of my last Thanksgiving at home.)

It's Nobody Will Shut The Fuck Up Day at work again, so concentrating on anything more complex than my shitty blog is impossible. It's not helping me crack this funk I've been in for about 18 hours now. Last night I fell into this horribly down mood for no reason and then I made Wine Store Guy come over so I could ruin his life with it, and he probably thinks he is dating the manic-depressive dude now. Anyway he's not. Promise.

I fly out in a few hours, so I will be sure to tell you if I get my junk all rearranged by a TSA agent. I really hope I don't get picked because my friends from home can't wait to see my plastic dick cannon. It holds 4 ounces of poison shampoo that only works on fat, white people and has a button that recites passages from the Koran to brainwash your babies. Anyway if they feel it I'll say "Sorry, you just have nice hands. Should've sent the girl agent." I'm a total maverick.

To: SHS Class of 2000 / From: Inventor of Post-Its

Actually I do have something to say, and I will say it after this adorable cat video.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but my high school reunion is this weekend. Ten years since graduation. Everyone's all "It went by so fast!" but it didn't. I've lived in 3 states, done ALL of higher education that I will ever do, and eaten so many hamburgers that 10 years feels like a lowball estimate. Also my memories of high school are so hazy that it feels like a book I read more than 4 years of life.

I've always had a bad memory, but I do remember a couple of mean things I did. I'm not sorry. I was really creepy-stalkery to someone for a time, though, and I feel regret about that. It's one of those cringeworthy episodes that affect you physically when you remember them, and you try to will them to unhappen, but that's impossible so you sit there thinking "Holy crap, I am so embarrassed by that thing; I just know the other person thinks about what a freak/asshole/creep I was all the time!" But they totally don't and might not even remember the incident the same way. But that's not comforting because what if they do?

Anyway, I'm not telling you what happened, so I'm just going to give a blanket disclaimer to everyone in my graduating class:

Dear Stevenson High School Class of 2000: I AM NOT THE SAME PERSON I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL! ANY BAD MEMORIES YOU HAVE OF ME NO LONGER APPLY... UNLESS YOU LIKED ME IN WHICH CASE I AM EXACTLY THE SAME! ALSO I AM STILL BREAKING OUT SO PLEASE DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT MY FACE BECAUSE I ALREADY KNOW!

Ok that's all. I'm also going to assume the same is true for all of my old classmates too and that it's just another night of showing up at a bar only everybody is wearing nametags and looks vaguely familiar and possibly I slept with a few of them years ago but can't really remember what it was like, but that's basically every singles event I've ever been to so I guess I am prepared.

Generic Thanksgiving Wishes

I fired up my old tablet thing the other day HOORAY! You care because now I can make you arts! I wanted to play with my new program, so I drew this:

Grapes Like Sharing

I know it's very Natalie Dee, but shut up. I can't draw so copy/pasting one circle over and over is pretty much all you will ever get. Anyway now you have even more to love about the internet! In the future... illustrated blog entries!?!?

As you know, Thanksgiving is this weekend, and since I am obsessed with talking about food and how fat I am, you can look forward to that. I promise I won't draw pictures of myself, so don't worry about upgrading to a larger monitor.

Anyway, I've got nothing left to say right now, so here are some educational Thanksgiving videos from YouTube for your learning pleasure.

I could watch that woman talk about things I already know all day.

And finally, a re-enactment of the Thanksgiving story with Swedish subtitles:

Happy Thanksgiving! I promise I'll come back in a few days with something to say!

Tanked

I want to apologize in advance that I am writing this post with what I can only describe as a low-grade migraine. My head is throbbing and when I close my eyes, I experience an explosion of light and color like an acid trip on acid. I'm typing without looking at the screen because through the discomfort all my brain can process is "Blog now! You need to blog about fish tanks! Bloooooooog and your headache will go away as if by magic!" So I am doing it, but I guarantee neither coherence nor entertainment.

Anyway, I grew up in the midwest, and like any upper-middle class American family from the region, our household success could be measured by the size and quality of our living room fish tank. I became aware of this at such a young age that it wasn't until grad school when I was sharing my story with someone who grew up far from me that I discovered that not everyone understands this to be a reliable measure and that I sound a bit like a crazy person when I talk about it. I assure you it is true. From the ages of 10 to 17, I was always acutely aware of who among my friends and extended family had better fish tanks than ours and whose fish tanks were found wanting.

Spell-Check Anomaly: Apparently the red squiggly line denoting a misspelled word appears under the compounded "fishtank" in the singular, but not "fishtanks" in the plural. Try it and see!"

Anyway, my family's current setup is a free-standing, 50-gallon affair in the corner of our front room (i.e. the living room ostensibly for company with the more expensive couches that nobody ever uses, as distinguished from the other living room or "family room" where the TV is and people actually do stuff). Containing a quiet filter, sundry false plants and rock formations, an adhesive backdrop resembling a tropical reef, and a rotating supply of freshwater fish and mollusks, it stands as a burbling symbol of comfort and my father's sense of frugality and distaste for ostentatious displays.

But we were not always 50-gallon people. I remember a time when I was about 8, and it was Halloween. All I had ever had were small bowls with at most 2 goldfish, usually won with a complimentary plastic bag at a crappy fun fair. But this Halloween there was a costume contest, and the winner got a free 10-gallon fish tank and probably a gift certificate to Walker Brothers Pancake House. (They always throw one of those in.) When they called out the winner: "Waldo!" I thought "Oh my God, that's me!" I made a bee-line for the stage, praying that I would get there before the other, much shittier Waldo I'd seen wandering around. (He drew stripes on a white t-shirt with a magic marker, something my mom and I tried before abandoning the idea because it looked like crap! My mom sprayed my hair brown and bought a shephard's costume just to cut the crook in half for a cane! He didn't even have a backpack. He was the shittiest Waldo ever, and he would NOT be taking my fish tank!)

I made it to the stage before him feeling no guilt whatsoever that this little kid was probably destroyed by being robbed of his prize. All that mattered was that I looked awesome, and I was finally able to do something to add to my family's value! A real live grown-up fish tank was something my family needed to realize it's potential, and I was the one bringing it home!

Well we bought all the bullshit, and I think I had fish in there for about 4 months before cleaning and maintenance became more effort than it was worth. The fish tank fell into disuse until it became home to a series of my sister's rodentia. But the seed was planted. We soon after bought another 10-gallon fish tank and ever since have played host to an ever-expanding populations of creatures of the deep.

I don't care about fish. My sister was the one who named and adored all the slimy things, and my parents played interior decorator. I would just go into the room to watch them placidly swim about and listen to the bubbles, content that the thing was there. Our family fish tank.

In high school I studied some architecture and design both in school and out, and in my second-year architecture class, I had grand plans of designing a giant entertainment center/shelving unit that was MADE ENTIRELY OF FISH TANK! Imagine a wall of light and color that you could look at all day. The fish would mingle with your books, drift around the borders of your favorite movies, poke in and out of your knick-knacks, ingratiating themselves with all of the objects with which you shape and define your sense of place and home. It would have been beautiful. Unfortunately, I had trouble with weight, cost, and practical concerns, not to mention reconciling 1,000 gallons of water with dozens of feet of electrical wiring. No compromise would satisfy me, and I had to abandon the idea outright.

I'm not saying there's a connection between the crumbling of my giant fish tank dream and my abandonment of architecture and design as a career path, but could you live your entire life only striving for second best?

Buzz

Hello and welcome to Starbucks Blog where all I talk about is Starbucks every day! Ha ha, I'm just kidding.

Wait, no I'm not today I ordered a red eye because "It sounded good"--Ashanti. Huge mistake. On the upside, the taste of their ok espresso slightly masks the taste of their awful coffee. On the other hand, I didn't eat dinner last night but drank mismatching alcohols, so with the caffeine, I am in turns light-headed or heavy, hyper or mellow, starving or repulsed by food, and headachey or headachey in a slightly different region. Right now: light-headed/hyper/starving/center. Any portion of this Livejournal status is subject to change without warning.

[Time passes...]

Ok I went and ate a Bagel With Cream Cheese and Bacon, which is basically the 1-up mushroom of fatty hangover cures, so my humanity is restored.

The reason I was drinking is that it was karaoke league night. It didn't go too well, and I am disappointed. I only got ONE compliment: "You look good in a dress." While appreciated, I ALREADY KNOW THAT! Step it up, people! Last week someone asked if I was an actor or studied movement. Another kid told me I scared him. If you want Snooki: Reloaded to provide you with high-quality performances on a regular basis, you need to say nice things about me with great abandon EVEN WHEN WE DROP THE BALL LIKE WE SORTA DID LAST NIGHT SORRY! I will never again tolerate such disappointment.

Alien Invasion

Last night I had a very long, very vivid sex dream about the Matriarch Benezia.

In case you do not know how retarded this is, here is a picture of the Matriarch Benezia:

Benezia

Yes. Not only is she totally old, but she is also a BLUE VIDEO GAME ALIEN CHICK DRESSED LIKE MALEFICENT who takes us back to 2005 to ask the question: "Whatcha gonna do with all that breast [by which I mean] all that breast inside that shirt?"

I do not know where to begin. I've had girl sex dreams before. I've even had a sci-fi sex dream before where I had my way with a space marine I held at (ray)gunpoint. But this conflagration of lame pervertedness is unacceptable, and I refuse to sit idly while my subconscious plays holodeck at the expense of my self-respect.

You may be wondering if I happened to play my space video games for infinity hours this weekend and the answer is "MAYBE!" but I also did supercool human being things like see an opera, learn choreography to a Spice Girls song, and eat like... three giant wedges of cheese. Yes, it is for these things that I pay New York real estate prices.

The point is, I am a happening dude who all the boys love -- you can find them in my yard near the milkshake machine (GO AWAY, 2005!) -- so I do not need to get my jollies (yuck) with evil, post-menopausal sorceresses... FROM SPACE! This is not a fantasy of mine, so you can all keep being my friend. I don't even know why I brought this up in the first place. In conclusion, the only alien chick I would sleep with is Isobel from Roswell and only if she made me, which she totally would.

I Really Gotta Go!

October 4th!? Oops guys, here I am. I'm breaking radio silence to tell you all about my zit.

Just kidding, I've already told that story to like everyone on the subway. The news of the day is that Wine Store Guy and I are in a relationship on Facebook. I know that doesn't mean much these days, but I also friend-accepted his sister, who is pretty, and that's pretty much the same as tattooing his name on my face, so you know it's real. I wonder if he told her I'm Jewish.

He put up a really sexy profile pic so go look at it now before he switches it to something awful like he likes to do sometimes. Link through my profile. (If you and I aren't Facebook friends, then sorry you don't get to see him. Not everyone likes their poo on the net and also I need 500 more Facebook friends before I can officially hate myself so send me requests, thx.)

Other news of the moment is that all I do is play video games and watch 30 Rock on Netflix and never clean my apartment. Wait did I say "news", I meant "stuff that is exactly the same as it has always been."

I did buy a new computer so I can finally start editing photos and drawing shitty cartoons on my tablet to show everyone again, but I haven't really set up anything yet because it's a pain in the ass and I am lazy. (Cf. previous paragraph.)

Last of all, my High School Reunion(!!!!) is Thanksgiving weekend. I know you're all anxious to find out which strangers I went to high school with got fat, so I will fill you in later. I already know the answers. Anyway, I have to go. I cut my foot earlier, and my shoe is filling up with blood.

Just kidding, that was from Romy and Michelle. I was just practicing. Anyway I'm starting to remember why I never bother to blog anymore.

Something From the Comments

Spencer says:

I thought we weren't allowed to call him Wine Store Guy anymore! And blogging about Latte Boy provides so much more drama and angst. Your relationship with Wine Store Guy appears to be without much tumult right now, so maybe it's better that you aren't blogging about him? Just sayin'. :P

The Blog is a place of pseudonyms, but thanks for revealing that I've been talking about him and calling him that for so long that I had to instruct people to use his real name.

FINE YOU GUYS I WILL BLOG ABOUT WINE STORE GUY JESUS CHRIST!

We met because he works at the wine store right off the subway, and I started playing my creepy obsessive game where I would go in and buy wine for no reason just to see if he was there. Then I would talk to everyone about "OMG Wine Store Guy" all the time, and if I was blogging then you'd all have vomited so much but always come back for more just like now.

Then one day I realized he was too sexy, charming, and intelligent for my game, so he graduated to Legitimate Crush and then disappeared for 3 months before I could do anything about it. That's when I used the internet to reach new depths of sociopathic privacy-violation, marked my calendar with what I determined to be the date of his last performance at the summer opera company with which I found out he was singing, and waited for him to return to New York.

The date passed, he didn't show, and I was left alone with my feverish, pathetic imaginings until I went to one of those free Met Opera screenings with Spencer (above, who does not get a pseudonym because when it comes to Google spiders, he has no fear) and Wine Store Guy was there, but inaccessible. He was lucky enough to leave the terrible opera early, and I was not, so I Facebooked him, we started going out, and it turns out he's somehow even better than the fake version I had been making up for so long.

Lastly, his other pseudonym is C. C. Babcock.

Ok are you happy? Now you know the story. The title of this blog is "Story of Wine Store Guy" unless you are Wine Store Guy, in which case the title is "How You Got Saddled With a Creepy Psycho and Didn't Find Out Until You Read His Shitty Blog".

Flushed

My toilet and I are best friends now, and I'm gonna leave it at that.

(Through thick and thin. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!)

Latte Boy Update! -- Latte Boy has been leaking personal information to me, slowly destroying my creepy objectification games. I even know his stupid name (it's a cute name, really) and where he's from and all these things. I'm countering by doing the same. He knows my name and when he told me fix the yucky weather, I said "I can't. God doesn't listen to me; I'm Jewish." So now he knows that. Guess I gotta start treating him like a human bean now! Oh well, maybe I can make him my friend or something stupid like that.

P.S. I'm dating someone. I wonder if he's mad that I blog about Latte Boy more than him.

All of My Posts Are About Starbucks and This One Is No Exception

It happened! This morning I officially became the Foursquare Mayor of my corner Starbucks! Honestly: sort of disappointing.

I was hoping for a lot more pomp around the occasion, but I chickened out from showing the girl at the register how cool I am. I will probably tell Latte Boy tonight. He will care.

Anyway, I have a look-alike and he needs to die. Last week I went in, and the barista working was all "Grande quad macchiato, right?" and I was like "Uh, no." He said, "That's not what you always get?" and I replied, "No, never!" I was aghast because anyone who needs 4 shots of Starbucks' sweet, sweet crude obviously has some Vampire Diaries circulation issues going on inside.

That's when the kid (he has a proper nickname, but it's racist so I'm censoring) told me I look exactly (exactly!) like someone else who comes into the shop all the time. Then he got everyone else working to agree.

So today, a different barista (without a nickname) took my order and then fulfilled the Starbucks Corporation's deluded attempt to make us believe they are a feel-good, neighborhood coffee shop by asking my name for the order. But instead of asking like he should have done, he showed off with: "It's Brian, right?"

"No."

"What? Are you sure?"

"YES I AM SURE OF MY OWN NAME NOT BEING BRIAN!"

So he also went off on how much I look like (apparently) Brian. That's when Looks Like My Ex-Boyfriend Guy, who was there for the original incident, said to No Nickname Guy: "Yeah, someone else did this to him last week" in a tone that further communicated "so just go make his damn drink." I appreciated that. Looks Like My Ex-Boyfriend Guy has always been one of my favorites, and now I like him 12% more. I said to him, "I really want to see what this asshole looks like." He said, "It's true; you two look really similar."

So if you have any leads, I'd like this kid out of the picture as soon as possible. Here's what I know:

  1. His name is Brian
  2. He looks like me
  3. Either:
    1. He cannot maintain a healthy sleep schedule, OR,
    2. He is a vampire who walks in the day

The moral of the story is this is the first time I've been confused with someone male, so I guess it's not all bad.
