Oh boy I have another stye!

Eggregious

So last night I did some food experimentation in the form of this recipe for Tea Marbled Eggs I saw in the back of a mystery novel about tea. The book is called Death by Darjeeling by Laura Childs, and I haven't read it yet. Anyway basically you make hard boiled eggs, and when they're about done, you crack them lightly with a spoon and then let them simmer in water with way too much tea in it. After an hour and a bunch, they come out looking more or less like this but probably better because I messed up a couple of them:

Marbled Eggs

Pretty cool, huh? Anyway, chop them in half, sprinkle some paprika and chopped parsley, and you've got a neat little hors d'œuvre,

Mine didn't turn out so great because of the botched ones you can see where the ends turned totally brown and also because I don't think my eggs were still good. They had plenty of time left according to the package, but they didn't smell great. So I didn't eat them, basically it was a disposable art project. Sorry, starving children!

The rest of the night was spent watching the end of season 5 of Desperate Housewives, which was too predictable to be terribly entertaining. Oh and I watched half of Mary Reilly, that Julia Roberts film from 1996 where she is the chambermaid of Dr. Jekyll. It's just alright.

Tonight's project: salmon with agave glaze and citrus salsa verde and a side of herbed quinoa. Then I'll watch Roswell with Ryan and probably eat all the cookies in the house.

I was hoping if I just started typing about my life, I'd come up with something funny to say, but I didn't, so you suffered through this for nothing HA!

An Act of Contrition

Remember how I spent 13 hours watching the "New Year's Slay" Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon on Logo the other day? Apparently it angered my friend Ryan that I'd watch a Buffy marathon without him even though everyone knows New Year's Day is all about sitting around the house doing nothing all by yourself. Regardless, by way of apology, I offer this poem I'm about to make up.

Sorry, Ryan : a poem after Lady Gaga

I want your snarky, I want you to grouch.
I want your butt imprinted here on my couch.
I want your 'tude.
'Tude, 'tude, 'tude,
I want your 'tude.

I want your drama, you know it should be,
Liz, Max, Veronica, Maia, you and me.
I want your 'tude.
'Tude, 'tude, 'tude,
I want your 'tude.

I want your Bud and I want us to binge,
You and me could write a bad bromance.
I want your Bud and a good weeknight binge,
You and me could write a bad bromance.

Pee-pee-ee-ee-ee
Pika, pika-pi.
Phoebe, it's all me.
I want your bromance.

I buy you wine and I feed you my food,
Because you'll call me out when I'm being rude.
I want your 'tude.
'Tude, 'tude, 'tude,
I want your 'tude.

You've got my number, you know what to say,
No matter which Housewife I act like each day.
I want your 'tude.
'Tude, 'tude, 'tude,
I want your 'tude.

You know that I want you.
You know that I need you.
I want your bad, bad bromance.

Hot, hot, supersonic.
Come on, baby, drink your tonic.
Hot, hot, supersonic.
Come on, baby, drink your tonic.

I want your Bud, and I want us to binge.
I want your Bud, I just wanna be friends.
Je veux ton bière, et je veux boire avec te.
Je veux ton bière, I just wanna be friends!

Pee-pee-ee-ee-ee
Pika, pika-pi.
Phoebe, it's all me.
I want your bromance!

Captain's Log Day 2: Still in my freaking pajamas.

Wow, guys, 2010. Whatever that means.

It's important to start off the year in a manner indicative of how you want the whole year to go. It was in this spirit that I spent yesterday watching the "New Year's Slay" Buffy the Vampire Slayer Marathon on Logo for 13 hours. Basically they played all of Season 2, so not only was I sitting and watching television for that long, but I was watching television I'd already seen 15 times before.

Buffy Screen

I also spent the time memorizing all the commercials they play on Logo. There are some new Progressive auto insurance ads up. I tend to like those. They also advertise this tacky, crystal cross necklace that has the Lord's Prayer written really tiny in the middle. It's the most garish thing I've ever seen, so it made SOME sort of sense following an ad for the next season of RuPaul's Drag Race, but I'm pretty sure the ad money would be better spent on the Gospel Music channel during one of their Sister Sister marathons or something. Dunno how many GAY VAMPIRE FANS are looking for the perfect gift for a first communion.

But the commercial I most looked forward to and dreaded was the finallyfast.com commercial that got played once an hour. They were running an extended version of the one I'm familiar with, right, so there were some extra characters I had never seen before. The one I hated was this teenage boy playing some really pathetic airplane video game who whines to his mom that "This internet connection is SO... SLOW!!!" And then finallyfast.com fixes his slow computer and he's so happy, and I hate seeing him happy because I hate seeing him. Here is him:

Finally Fast Guy The Second

Don't you just want to punch his face? I KNOW!

Anyway, after he's gone I feel better because another boy gets his computer fixed, and I have a crush on him because he's adorable. He's SO HAPPY! He says, "Hey, my computer's fast! Finally! Finallyfast.com!" and basically that cemented my love.

Finally Fast Guy The First

I know he looks goofy in that picture, but basically we're lovers now and I'll defend his honor by spilling the blood of his detractors, so keep it to yourself. I hope you guys all find love in 2010 also!
