Slice of Life

Come on. Be nice.

Watch This!

I was going to write something substantial today, possibly about Sucker Punch (not so good), but... well it hasn't happened. I've gotten a ton of work done instead, sorry. So instead, I'm gonna share with you some of the things that have occupied my time in the background in between listening to and learning about the different subgenres of electronica, which was my major occupation on the job today.

WARNING: These get more asinine as you go.

"Chernokids", a sad little animated short (via Ze Frank):

Totally lame Invisalign rap (via Tosh.0 Blog):

And lastly, in honor of this month being the 20th birthday of Street Fighter II, a scene from the Jackie Chan classic City Hunter. This is a ridiculous yet surprisingly faithful homage.

Yeah, on more than one occasion, I've considered a similar Chun-Li outfit, but it never came to be. I totally have the thighs for it, though.

Generic Thanksgiving Wishes

I fired up my old tablet thing the other day HOORAY! You care because now I can make you arts! I wanted to play with my new program, so I drew this:

Grapes Like Sharing

I know it's very Natalie Dee, but shut up. I can't draw so copy/pasting one circle over and over is pretty much all you will ever get. Anyway now you have even more to love about the internet! In the future... illustrated blog entries!?!?

As you know, Thanksgiving is this weekend, and since I am obsessed with talking about food and how fat I am, you can look forward to that. I promise I won't draw pictures of myself, so don't worry about upgrading to a larger monitor.

Anyway, I've got nothing left to say right now, so here are some educational Thanksgiving videos from YouTube for your learning pleasure.

I could watch that woman talk about things I already know all day.

And finally, a re-enactment of the Thanksgiving story with Swedish subtitles:

Happy Thanksgiving! I promise I'll come back in a few days with something to say!

Guys in Cheesy Professional Training Videos I Would Bang, Part 1

Remember FuncoLand? It's GameStop now. More importantly, did any of you work there in 1998? Because apparently you had to watch this drecky, overproduced training video to be a sales rep.

As training videos go, it's pretty good, actually. I remember working at the Buckle (yeah) the thing I had to watch had not creativity to it at all. Anyway, Adam, if you're out there, let me know how your acting career is going and maybe we can get together, yeah?

Oh and if you're wondering about the thrilling conclusion, here's the second part. (Seriously, I kinda got into this by the time he was collecting his second letter.)

Anyway, the point of this blog is that Adam is adorable, and I could watch him clean N64 games all day. I'm pretty sure that dad in the orange feels the same way.

Unplugged

My friend Kev favorited a video on YouTube today and that got it posted to Facebook where I clicked it. Here:

Thoughts upon watching: "Hey, that reminds me of life."

Idiot Box

Holy crap.

Also this is fabulous because I'd been diligently working all day until I decided to stop and watch a 30-second YouTube video and that's when my boss walked by. Touch my Quizno-nos.

(If you're reading this on Facebook, stop reading this on Facebook. They never import video and it doesn't make my blog look popular. VIEW ORIGINAL SOURCE!)

Anyway this last weekend my mom was here and we went shopping for clothes (her) and apartments (me.) Luck on both sides. More later. What's more important is that I watched the entire first seasons of Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies. In case you didn't know, both shows feature lead characters who are undead girls with boy names. You may also be interested to know that Pushing Daisies is pretty much the best show I have ever seen. It has nice colors.

Last night featured pizza and a mini Gossip Girl marathon. Season 1, though, so nobody better tell me what happened! I left it where S got this mysterious note from G and I have no idea who G is so nobody spoil it even though it's probably Michelle Trachtenberg because I know she's supposed to show up at some point.

Isn't it awesome hearing me say nothing interesting about TV shows you already saw a year ago? I know, that's why you keep coming back for more! You know you love me.

xoxo

Some Fine Products

So I was back at the homestead (Chicago) last week at a conference (hence the radio silence). The week, apart from being exhausting, enlightening, fattening, lovely, etc., also involved a lot of cuddling up in the hotel room watching quality daytime television.

Highlights included Tyra, Ellen, Springer, Judge Judy, and some American Idol retrospective. It took me back.

Whatever who cares the point is Chicago has some of the most repetitive, awful, boring local commercials during daytime talkshows. It's all "Get your degree online" this and "Good credit, bad credit, or no credit at all" that clearly appealing to the demographic of jobless losers who sit at home all day and expect the world to give them something for nothing.

Some of them tickled my nostalgia funny, though, like Attorney Peter Francis Geraci and his bankruptcy info tapes. I swear, that man has been trying to get me out of debt with the same constipated schtick since I was 10 years old, but he's obviously doing something right because he hasn't aged a day! You go, Peter Francis Geraci!

Anyway, this sort of got us on the topic of awesome local commercials from across the country. By "we", I mean me and my cuddle-up-and-watch-shitty-teevee buddy James. (Those were some good times.)

Anyway, he deserves most of the credit for the following selections.

Oh, and if you're only going to watch/listen to one of these, scroll down and make it the last one, the one that's only audio. I swear to God.

FREE CHICKEN BOX!

I apologize in advance for the next one. You'll be singing this hit song to all your friends for days!

P.S. AWESOME SUIT WHO'S YOUR TAILOR!?!

Yeah, he's white you racist.

These next two are from Chicago THANK YOU!

How in the hell can he store that stuff for such a cheap price?!

Oscillated!

OMG and last, you need to hear this a million times. It's a radio spot for La France Drugs. No video... no problem. It is top qualiky!

I listen to that over and over again.

OVER AND OVER!

Luggice.

Dreeks le streumon

Real quick random video share, watching this seven-second video I went from intrigued to terrified to REALLY turned on.

I'm watching it over and over just for that smile at the end. Thanks, dreeks67!

Video Blog #1: Maiden Voyage, or, Champagne in the Ass

Ok so whimsy drove me to make a video blog. Who knows if I'll ever do it again, but I did it once.

I uploaded it to three places. So Buzznet decided its thumbnail capture should be me with my cat. NOT LOSERY. Vimeo chose a still of me in the gayest pose imaginable. And most importantly, YouTube decided one of my "related videos" in the sidebar should be "Boring Life of a Gay Loser". Thanks for the publicity, Internet!

Video Blog #1: Maiden Voyage, or, Champagne in the Ass from Too Hotty on Vimeo

In case the Vimeo embed doesn't work, here's the link to YouTube.

In retrospect, I realize that in this age of the soundbyte, the blurb, and fucking Twitter, a 10-minute video might be a lot to ask of people.... but too bad, I'm changing the world, you have to watch the whole thing.

Elephart.... eew, pretend I named this post something else...

Dudes, you gotta see this!

My response: "Holy shit, that elephant draws better than I fucking can!"

Watch this!

Yeah. I never blog anymore. STFUnGOI. Shut the fuck up and get over it.

I gotta go, but you have to watch this, the best movie death of all time. Samuel L. Jackson in Deep Blue Sea from 1999:

I ganked it from NY Mag, but they kinda ruin it by telling you what happens before it happens.

Ok have a good weekend.

Daily Curios: It's Raining Out Edition

image004

I hate everything about the fact that it's raining right now because I just agreed to go out later and now I'm stuck going out in the RAIN so everyone can S my D because I'm mad.

And now I'm over it. Anyway, look at this stuff. It has nothing to do with rain, but one of them got me wet.

Blah blah blah this paragraph is just filler so I can get the YouTube video far enough down that it doesn't clash with the photo because my blog is shitty and I don't know anything about formatting.

Boasas on disgusting babies.

I don't know how to embed this, so go to Ze Frank and watch the cast of Spongebob do classic movies.

Since old crushes never die and I am still 16 inside, I'm still in love with David Boreanaz who gets all nakedish in some shitty movie nobody saw.

I know you all saw the Oscars already, but I found this Best Actress adorable:

Saturday Morning CarTube: Hedgehog in the Fog

This is a Russian cartoon by Yuri Norstein called Hedgehog in the Fog. It's quite beautiful and a bit unsettling, and I think you should take 10 minutes to watch it and listen to the clarineterrific score that accompanies.

Something from the comments:

I see myself in the hedhoge in the end with his friend bear is stil simple and doesn't think about all those bigger thinks.

Oh please. He's from the Netherlands, so this isn't a comment on his crap English, but 90% of people who claim they're more insightful and thoughtful than everyone around them are completely deluded. You should get to know your friends better, martijnkerk.

Also, the part where the hedgehog lost his satchel reminded me of last night when I LOST MY iPOD AND BRAND NEW EXPENSIVE EARPHONES so you can all deposit your sympathy in the comments.

The Lake of Innisfree

Though not in the vapid style of the rest of this blog, I want to share a video I found this morning. It's William Butler Yeats and "The Lake of Innisfree". This guy on YouTube made a bunch of videos with old recordings, many of poetry readings. Not all of them work, but this one's pretty mesmerizing.

I wish the mouth weren't moving because it looks ridiculous, but if you just listen to it, it captures... something.

Inspiration

As you've all surely noticed from your late nights of desperately hitting the refresh button on my blog, I haven't been writing a lot lately. The problem is, I've not been inspired. I don't know why, especially considering I've done lots of great things lately worth writing about. I've also learned a lot of neat things like all about sea monkeys. Yet somehow, when I go to write anything, it either doesn't come out or sucks.

But I recently came across a video from one of my favorite internet personalities, Ze Frank. The video, from his blog, is about inspiration.

I don't know how he does it, but the man is fabulous and hilarious one minute, and then he'll come out with sage advice that makes me feel so good about the world. Ze Frank is the best, and he's one of those people I secretly watch out for when I'm walking around the city.

Anyway, I still have nothing to write about, but in the spirit of "keep on making stuff," I've decided to share some things that might inspire you. From my lack of inspiration, I have been inspired to inspire. I'm so meta it hurts so much it hurts.

Anyway, I'm going with the philosophy here that seeing people be creative will make you feel creative. To begin, this was floating around the Music Librarian Association listserv this morning:

It gets annoying at 3:18, but better again at 4:22. My favorite is the pepper kazoo.

The following is one of my favorite things to watch, largely based on the content at Indexed:

I imagine that man being very sexy.

Ok, I gotta get back to work, and you've wasted enough time watching videos. Loser. The moral of the story is I'm going to blog more even if I'm not inspired, so be prepared for a whole lot of shit in the coming weeks.

Also, speaking of Ze Frank, you should go to The ORG, which is basically this community of who I consider to be some of the most creative people on the Internet just having fun sharing pictures and videos and projects. I'm a member, but you all know I don't do much of anything, so.... whatever, ok.

But before you go, here's a holiday video sorta related to the Vegetable Orchestra one above. It's the most adorable Japanese man ever and his rendition of Angels We Have Heard on High:

Nyup nyup...

My morning:

So you'll very kindly let me have my way today. Alright, I'm going to work.

Watch this!

Saturday posting! Weird. I know! Anyway, I want to share a video that embodies two things I did in high school: marching and playing Tetris.

Please ignore how bad they are.

Ganked from: East Village Idiot

Dedicated to: Kev (P.S. 74!)

Here I am

I'm squeezing my butt cheeks together trying real hard to think of something to break my accidental silence. I just kinda... forgot about my blog. PotterCast has been releasing things every couple days on their tour to keep me busy at work, and my life has become a droll routine of work, home, 18 holes of video golf, Netflix movie, and 10 seconds of reading before I fall asleep.

Oh, except that's a total lie because of Pride weekend and my first episode of So You Think You Can Dance and applying for jobs and stuff... and everything else. I guess I've got a lot to say, but no amusing way to say it. Watch this.

That kid's a star.

Anyone notice the power outage on the Upper East Side yesterday? It happened exactly as I was getting on the train to go home, so I had to WALK FIFTY BLOCKS in the HUMIDITY more like SWIM fifty blocks. You should have seen me. I didn't shower before I went to Brian and Susie's to watch TV, and I decided to walk there to, but neither of them said anything about how gross I looked.

Oh, and I changed my hair again, I guess now you're all up to speed on my life.

I forgot my camera during Pride Weekend, but I'll get other people's pictures soon so you can see all my cool new friends.

The next post will have a topic and be coherent, I promise.

Kick My Ask

Ugh, I'm recovering from a day and a half without Internet access. I have a billion blogs to read and an e-mail to respond to (yes, just the one), but I gotta shower now. Anyway, watch this.
